Volunteer Projects with Palestinian Refugees offer a powerful opportunity to directly support vulnerable communities in the West Bank, particularly women, children, and youth. These volunteer projects are perfect for those passionate about human rights and looking to make a tangible difference either in the West Bank or Gaza Strip.
Volunteers contribute to the development of Palestinian refugees by providing educational support, vocational training, and leading workshops. These initiatives aim to enhance both social and professional skills, assisting refugees in overcoming daily challenges and fostering resilience. Volunteers will play a key role in improving access to education, including teaching English and organizing workshops that address academic and practical skills within local Palestinian refugee camps.

Volunteer Projects With Palestinian Refugees in 2025/2026
We are thrilled to announce our volunteer opportunities with Palestinian refugees for the 2025/2026 period. This program offers you the chance to directly engage with Palestinian refugee communities in the West Bank, focusing on providing education and support to children, youth, and women.
Volunteers will play an essential role in empowering these communities, particularly those passionate about human rights and Palestinian community development. This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference and contribute to meaningful change in the lives of Palestinian refugees.
Supporting a Local Organization and Palestinians
Schools in Palestinian refugee camps are widely known to be poor, missing many basic resources to meet the educational needs of their students. By joining Volunteer in Palestine, you are supporting not just a local Palestinian organization, but also the Palestinian community as a whole.
We provide low-cost courses for Palestinian students to empower low-income families and provide them with access to inexpensive education and English language programs. The center also provides several free workshops, seminars, and courses to help Palestinian refugees in Hebron.
Volunteers in Palestine play a significant role in improving the well-being of the Palestinian population. Your collaboration with us aids in developing and constructing routes to comprehension. Several volunteer opportunities in Palestine help with education and community development. By contributing your time to the numerous internship opportunities with Palestinian refugees we provide, you may significantly improve the lives of children.
Help Palestinian Refugees’ Camps
The UNRWA, also known as the UN Relief and Works Agency, is responsible for supporting 19 refugee camps in the West Bank alone. Palestinian refugees are under the purview of the UN. Al Fawwar and Al Arroub are two well-known camps that are infamously crowded and miserable, lacking in basic amenities, infrastructure, and essentials like hospitals and schools.
These West Bank refugee camps began as sprawling tent towns, but as time passed and it became evident that a return was unlikely, stone structures progressively replaced tents, resulting in tight, concrete quarters. The camps have an exceedingly high population density, resulting in frequent housing shortages and congestion due to a lack of room to build new dwellings.
Volunteer with Palestinian Refugee Children
This volunteer program is specifically designed to assist and support children in both an educational and vocational capacity, providing the children with both practical life skills and aiding in their academic growth.
Volunteers in this program will have the opportunity to work with refugee children in both local schools and Palestinian community centers located within refugee camps. Previous volunteers have led the following workshops:
- Drama for Palestinian refugees
- Fun days for Palestinian kids in the refugee camps
- Conversational English for Palestinian children
- Arts and music for Palestinian children with disabilities
- Media education for Palestinian schoolchildren
- Environmental camps for elementary students
- Lessons in mathematics
- Journalism workshops for high school students
- Medicine (First Aid Courses)
Volunteers will be able to participate in a range of interesting and exciting initiatives in which they may immerse themselves and increase their self-esteem. They will also get the opportunity to work with children from refugee camps, where they frequently lack schooling and educational assistance, as well as a need for fun and excitement.

Volunteer in the West Bank
Volunteering in the West Bank offers a unique opportunity to engage with Palestinian communities in cities like Ramallah, Bethlehem, and Hebron, each with its distinct cultural and historical significance. In Ramallah, the administrative hub, you can work with NGOs focused on human rights, youth development, and education.
Bethlehem, known for its religious heritage, offers opportunities in community centers, schools, and refugee support, while Hebron, with its rich history and complex political landscape, is ideal for those interested in peace-building and human rights monitoring. Other cities like Nablus and Jenin provide volunteer experiences in cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and support for local artisans and refugees.
Cities like Jericho, Tulkarem, and Qalqilya present opportunities to volunteer in environmental conservation, rural development, and educational programs, often within communities facing unique challenges due to the political situation. Whether you’re interested in teaching, cultural initiatives, or social services, the West Bank offers a diverse range of volunteer experiences that allow you to contribute meaningfully while immersing yourself in Palestinian culture and daily life.
Other Ways to Help
However, if education is not your forte, there are a plethora of ways to volunteer that can help Palestinian refugees. For example, volunteers can also arrange CV/resume writing seminars, arts and crafts workshops, cultural exchanges, and athletic events. Further, volunteers are encouraged to introduce their expertise.
Volunteers at Volunteer in Palestine are invited to give a variety of services to refugees, for example, doctors or nurses can provide medical aid while also assisting other local medical NGOs in their efforts to aid refugees. Volunteers with specific expertise or a background in the performing arts are invited to arrange concerts and other live acts. Volunteer in Palestine has previously collaborated with volunteers to stage live music venues and even circus performances.
Volunteers will be expected to attend three hours of Arabic classes each week. The goal of these workshops is to provide volunteers with the opportunity to connect with Palestinians. When items are shared, it is often a sign of good diplomacy, and engaging with local Palestinians will be made simpler by participants’ eagerness to learn Arabic.
Participants will also get the opportunity to visit refugee camps and historical landmarks to obtain a better grasp of Palestine’s present political predicament.
