Short-Term Teach Italian in Palestine Program
Based in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine, this internship program is designed for people and students looking for short-term teaching Italian positions in Israel & Palestine or the Middle East. We believe this teaching Italian program provides a unique personal learning opportunity for those eager to gain valuable Italian teaching experience while also wishing to learn Arabic and become immersed in Palestinian culture, politics, and daily life.
Volunteers in the West Bank teach Italian to Palestinian students and community members aged 12 to adult, either one-on-one, in small groups of 2-5, or in Italian classes of 15-20 students.

No Experience in Teaching Italian

We Welcome Italian Teachers Year-Round

Work with Palestinian Children and Youngsters
This teaching Italian program in the West Bank, Palestine, will offer you the chance to meet and work with Palestinian children and youth in the city of Hebron, as well as in the local Palestinian villages and refugee camps. It is worth noting that more than 70% of our Palestinian students are under 20 years old.
Participants’ Responsibilities:
During their time in Palestine, interns instruct Italian language classes and provide administrative assistance while immersing themselves in the Palestinian culture.
Program interns teach Italian courses focusing on areas such as conversational Italian. Key aspects of teaching Italian in Palestine are as follows:
- Teach two or three conversational Italian classes at the Volunteer in Palestine during your internship
- Organize group activities for Palestinian students of Italian at the Center
- Help with some administrative tasks e.g. writing reports or press releases
- Help other foreigners and Palestinian teachers with their classes
- Organize workshops on different themes, including how to write resumes and cover letters and conduct job interviews.

Since the Teach Italian Study Arabic program started running in June 2011, more than 1,000 interns and volunteers have worked with us from different countries, including the USA, Germany, United Kingdom, China, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland. All our interns gained a more intimate knowledge of Palestinian and Arabic culture and better understood the political situation in Palestine.

Palestinian or Levantine Arabic Lessons
Interns in Palestine receive 12 hours of conversational Palestinian or Levantine Arabic lessons each month. Additionally, you will have plenty of chances to meet many people in Palestine, allowing you to learn the language in context and providing many opportunities to practice your Arabic skills with native speakers.
Interns can freely choose what form of Arabic they would like to learn during their time in the West Bank at Volunteer in Palestine.
Requirements for Our Teach Italian in Palestine Program
The internship as an Italian language teacher in the Palestine project offers participants opportunities for personal and professional growth.As such, we happily accept volunteers without advanced teaching or language qualifications who show an interest and passion in education and a willingness to learn. Any qualification in teaching Italian (e.g., DITALS, PLIDA, CELI CILS,…) is also non-essential.
In the Teach Italian Study Arabic Program in Palestine, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
- 18+ years of age
- Have a bachelor’s degree or a diploma (any subject)
- Fluent Italian
However, we do not require the following:
- Ability to speak Arabic
- Travel experience
- Teaching experience
- To be a native Italian speaker
Upon completion of teaching an Italian program in Palestine, Volunteer in Palestine provides the participant with a certificate and a letter of recommendation, which can be used in career resumes or for acquiring university credits.
Support Available
Volunteer in Palestine will provide you, as a volunteer Italian teacher, with Italian books, teaching materials for all levels, and an Italian teaching manual. This will guide you on how to teach Italian to Palestinians, what kind of activities to use, and some specific cultural explanations.
Furthermore, the Center always has at least five Palestinian teachers on its staff, who are also there to support you and offer a helping hand when necessary. Our Center is a hive of staff and fellow volunteers who would be happy to assist you in planning your Italian classes and give you some tips and advice.
Homestay During Your Time in Hebron
Volunteer in Palestine aims to achieve social discourse through cultural immersion. The Center provides the Teach Italian, Study Arabic Program’s participants homestays in Hebron, West Bank as follows:
- Female participants have the opportunity to live with a designated Palestinian host family in the local Hebron area
- Male participants will be accommodated in a lovely, shared apartment five minutes from the Volunteer in Palestine center in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.
- Private rooms can also be arranged, although these naturally come with an additional fee
What Do You Get from The Volunteer in Palestine?
Participants of the teach Italian Internship program in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine, will be provided with the following:
- 12 hours of conversational Palestinian Arabic lessons for each month they intern. Participants can also study MSA, Fusha, or colloquial Arabic.
- Accommodation with a Palestinian host family or a shared flat.
- Breakfast with other participants (6 times a week)
- Support during their time in Palestine
- Visits to various sites in the city of Hebron (refugee camps in Hebron, the old city, different factories, etc.)

- The teaching Italian Program will allow you to visit unique tourist attractions with a particular native perspective – including Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, Hebron, Tulkarm, Qalqilyah, Jenin and the Dead Sea in Jericho.
- Visit nearby cities such as Akko, Herzliya, Beersheva, Eilat, Tiberias, Netanya, Safed, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Masada, Amman, Aqaba, Wadi Rum, and Nazareth.
- Our Center is staffed by well-qualified, attentive Arabic teachers, each with an excellent educational background, ready and happy to help you.
- The Volunteer in Palestine will provide participants a certificate upon completion.
Program Duration
Volunteer in Palestine offers Teach Italian and Study Arabic in Palestine positions year-round. Applicants decide when they would like to start and end their programs. We are very flexible regarding starting dates and duration. The length of this program is flexible within a 1- 13-week period.
