Becoming an intern or volunteer in Palestine (West Bank or Gaza) is a truly enriching and transformative experience. With its rich history, diverse culture, and vibrant traditions, Palestine offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in its heritage while making a meaningful impact. Volunteering or interning in the region allows you to gain a deeper understanding of the local communities, build connections, and contribute to important community development, human rights, education, and social initiatives. Explore this life-changing opportunity to connect, learn, and give back this summer.

During the summer, these programs also create a dynamic environment where you can connect with like-minded internationals, sharing experiences and building friendships that last a lifetime.

During the summer period, Internationals participate in internships and volunteer programs. Therefore, it tends to be a bit busier during the summer period as more foreigners attend these programs. This will provide you with the perfect opportunity to travel with other internationals and explore, enabling you to work with others and build connections within Palestine.

Summer Volunteer Opportunities and Internships in Palestine for 2025/2026

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Summer Volunteer Opportunities and Internships in Palestine for 2025/2026. These programs provide a unique chance for individuals from around the world to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture, contribute meaningfully to local communities, and gain invaluable professional and personal experiences. These are ideal volunteer programs for individuals seeking opportunities in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank.

Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with local Palestinian organizations, contribute to community development projects, and delve into the rich history and traditions of Palestine. Whether your interests lie in education, human rights, Palestinian refugees, media, journalism, teaching English, women’s rights, or Palestinian law, these summer programs for 2025/2026 are designed to provide tailored experiences that align with your passions and objectives.

The Weather

As Palestine is in the Middle East, the summer periods tend to be quite warm. The temperatures in June can range between 16 and 27 degrees, while in July it is between 18 and 29 degrees, and August, also known as the hottest month, is between 19 and 30 degrees on average.

Usually, during the daytime, it is warmer and more humid while at night it can be a great temperature for having dinner outside. These temperatures also provide you with a nice opportunity to go for a little trip and visit the beach sides such as Jaffa and Akka and enjoy some cooler weather.

Safety

Safety is always an important factor before going to a new place, as you need to feel secure before traveling. Palestine is mostly safe, and it is important to remember that the West Bank and Gaza are different areas. Gaza in general tends to be known as more unsafe as big attacks on Gaza are more common. The West Bank, and especially Hebron tend to be safe and conducive for learning about Palestine while volunteering or interning.

However, there might be some minor clashes in the West Bank between Palestinians and Israeli settlers or the military due to the ongoing occupation. Mainly, there will be tensions prior to the clashes that are very noticeable. Thus, it is always important to keep an eye on news outlets to stay constantly updated about the situation, so you know which places are to avoid during the weekends and which places are perfectly fine to visit.

Goals for Volunteers and Interns

When applying for a summer volunteer program or for an internship program it is important to have a goal of what you would like to achieve. Keeping these in mind will help you identify which program would suit you best. Moreover, it is important to have objectives as it will stimulate you to stay motivated while working towards your goals.

Because the summer break is usually a period where people rest, so when you decide to continue learning in a different way, it’s important to have a goal/aim in mind to remember why you started. Therefore, you should write down your specific goals, so you can then look for a program which best suits the achievements you wish to reach. During this time, it’s important to learn things that would be considered an asset to what you are already learning at university or elsewhere.

Hence, I recommend writing three things down that you would like to learn during your internship in Palestine and three things that you would like to get out of your experience. And from there, I would recommend looking for a program which best aligns with your expectations and aims.
